Using your phone as a webcam

Yesterday I needed a webcam. And I don’t have one, so I thought: why not use my phone! And after googling some keywords, I found a solution: Smartcam. This is a piece of software (actually two pieces), that allows your phone to be used as a webcam via bluetooth. So I now have my webcam always with me!

Powder!

As some of you might know, I’m a fanatic skier.  I ski for more than 15 years now, and am becoming more fanatic every year.

This year there are lots of “Powder alerts” in Europe. The best part of skiing is freeriding: make your own lines (”freshies”) in white powder. But this year the risk of avalanches is quite big. So I need to buy some gear: beacon, shovel and probe.

The only difficult point is how much money you need to invest. For example, a good beacon with 3 antennas costs about 350 euro, while a version with 1 antenna is less than 150 euro. Both beacons will do the job, but the difference is in the search mode: with 1 antenna you need to practice a lot, while a version with 3 antennas is much easier to use. And this will save minutes, and maybe even lives!
