The ultimate phone?

I’m a gadgetfreak. Almost every half year I buy a new phone. Not because I have to, but because I want to. A chronological list of the phones I’ve had:

  • Mitsubishi Trium Galaxy (yay, my first phone!)
  • Panasonic GD90
  • Nokia 6210
  • Nokia 8310
  • Nokia 7650
  • SonyEricsson P800
  • SonyEricsson P900
  • Nokia 6230
  • Samsung D500
  • Qtek S100
  • Nokia 9300
  • Siemens M65
  • Palm Treo 680
  • Samsung i600
  • HTC Tytn II

And now I’ve ordered a Nokia E71. In the list above there was always something wrong with each device: unstable, too big, no 3G, slow, bad calendar etcetera. My favourite device was the Palm Treo 680. Palm has a wonderful OS. It doesn’t look very modern, but the usability was excellent. If it had 3G, I would have kept the device. But my provider (Telfort) stopped providing EDGE connectivity, so I was forced to buy a new phone.

Now let’s hope the E71 meets my expectations, and I hope this is the device that lasts longer than my previous devices! Will this be my ultimate phone?

My eeePC

For my personal stuff I sold my Macbook Pro, and bought an eeePC. Yes that’s right, a small laptop running Linux. So I’m not able to play games anymore, I don’t have loads of diskspace anymore and I don’t have OSX anymore. But what I do have:

  • 4GB solid state disk + 8GB internal USB stick + 8GB SD card
  • a touchscreen!
  • a mount in my car + adapter for 12v

So now I can use my eeePC as a 7″ navigation system, I have internet access anywhere, I can watch movies in my car, and I can instantly download a song when I hear it on the radio. Pretty cool!
